EEP Group Promotes Household Waste Separation in Bang Phli Yai, Samut Prakan

Eastern Energy Plus Group (EEP Group) continues to educate communities about household waste management, which is crucial in reducing waste accumulation. Without proper waste separation at the household level, unsegregated waste ends up in landfills, leading to environmental problems such as landfill fires caused by discarded electronic waste like batteries or issues with foul odors and leachate contaminating groundwater due to rotting food waste.

EEP Group promotes the “3Rs principle”;

Reduce: waste production.

Reuse: items until they are no longer usable.

Recycle: materials into new products.

This approach ensures efficient resource use and minimizes human-generated waste.

EEP Group also introduces simple and practical waste separation methods for households. By sorting waste before disposal, households can maximize resource utilization and reduce the amount of waste reaching communal bins. The key step is to separate wet and dry waste;

  Wet waste (e.g., food scraps, fruits, and vegetables) should be placed in green bins.

Dry waste (e.g., glass bottles, cardboard, plastic bottles, and metals) can be sold as recyclables to generate household income.

Electronic waste (e.g., phone batteries, lighters, and spray cans) should be placed in red bags and never mixed with general household waste to prevent landfill fires.

EEP Group has also introduced “Keycone,” a sustainable gardening solution using household waste materials. These raised beds, shaped like a pizza with a missing slice, are built from discarded glass bottles, cans, wood, and bricks. A perforated plastic bucket is placed at the center to decompose food scraps into organic fertilizer for homegrown vegetables.

To expand waste separation awareness, EEP Group’s Waste Conqueror Team regularly visits communities across Samut Prakan, where its operations are based. This team includes;

Innovation specialists, led by Mr. Anupong Muttaraid COO, who develop ways to maximize waste utilization.

PR & CSR Team, led by Ms. Chollada Jit-Anong, PR & CSR Manager.

Occupational Health & Safety Team, led by Mr. Nawee Fangkham, Safety & Occupational Health Manager.

On July 11, 2023, the team visited Moo. 19, Bang Phli Yai, at the invitation of Ms. Usa Kantachot, the village head, to educate residents and demonstrate Keycone garden construction.
